Te Whare Hukahuka were well represented at the 2017 and 2018 Matariki Awards, with co-founder Shay Wright being named as a finalist in both years for the Te Whetū Maiangi -Young Achievers Award.

In 2018, Pania Newton, an alumni of our Ka Eke Poutama programme, and the staunch young leader behind the Ihumatao’s ‘'Save Our Unique Landscape’ kaupapa was also named as a finalist for Te Whetū Maiangi -Young Achievers Award.
